Overview

Libra College Consulting offers two main services: college list compilation and essay support. This phase begins at the end of junior year, the point at which college lists and essays become top-of-mind. I believe that success in applying to colleges is largely determined by sensible school choices and then genuine expressions of interests, character, and values via the essays.

Many decide to seek help after the conclusion of junior year, but for those interested in getting an earlier start, here is the expanded client engagement timeline:

• Sophomore, beginning of fall semester: meeting with student and parent(s) for general discussion about goals and interests; suggestions by consultant on how to further pursue these goals and interests or explore other areas

• Sophomore, beginning of spring semester: meeting (or call) for updates, if any, on goals and interests; suggestions on how to further pursue

• Junior, beginning of fall semester: meeting for more targeted discussion and planning for college application cycle

• Junior, beginning of spring semester: meeting to solidify game plan in months leading up to college application cycle

• Junior, end of spring semester, to end of college application cycle*: college list selection and essay support

*Formal client engagement period of up to six months; prior meeting times will be considered informal (i.e., no fee) unless the client wishes to enter a general retainer agreement. See the FAQ section for more information.
